"Ruffles and Curls" Crochet Baby Hat -- FREE Pattern

“Ruffles and Curls” Crochet Baby Hat

Skill Level: Easy
0 – 3 months
- 1 skein Aran weight (#4) yarn (White) (I used “Vanna’s Choice” for this hat.)
- Crochet Hook, Size G/4.00 mm
- Yarn Needle (Used for working in loose yarn ends.)
Gauge: 12 dc sts = 4 inches
(I crochet pretty loosely. If you crochet tighter, you may want to
adjust to smaller hooks to get your desired size.)
Size: 0 – 3 months
Round 1: Using the “Magic Circle”, Ch 1. Work 12 dc in the circle. Join with slip stitch to top of first dc. (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 2. Work 2 dc in each stitch around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
Round 3: Ch 2. *Work 1 dc in first stitch. Work 2 dc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first dc with slip stitch. (36 dc)
Round 4: Ch 2. *Work 1 dc in next 8 stitches. Work 2 dc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first dc with slip stitch. (40 dc)
Round 5: Ch 1. Work single crochet around. Join to first sc with slip stitch.
Round 6: Ch 2. Work double crochet around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
Round 7: Repeat Round 5.
Round 8 - 10: Repeat Round 6.
Round 11: Ch 1. Work hdc around.
Round 12: (Ruffle Row) Ch 3. Work 4 dc in same stitch. *Skip dc, 5 dc in next dc stitch*. Repeat from * to * around. Join to base stitch of Ch 3.
Curls (Make 2)
Ch 30. Work 4 sc in each chain across. This will form the curl!
Fasten off and leave 7 or 8 inches of yarn to sew the curl to the hat!
Sew each curl to the hat, one on each side.
That’s it! This really turns out cute and looks adorable on!
