The Shoreline Restaurant - Gill's Rock, WI

I thought I'd start at the tip of Door County in a little fishing village called Gill's Rock.  Here you'll find a few very cute shops, a smoked fish store, a maritime museum and a great restaurant called The Shoreline Restaurant.

Last week we decided to take a drive and ended up at this establishment, which had been recommended to us by many locals and visitors alike.  And, we now want to add our "thumbs up" to it, too!  Like many restaurants in the area, The Shoreline does not take restaurant does not take reservations and when we drove up it looked like it was packed.  But, I decided to call, even though we were sitting in the parking lot, to see how long the wait would be and to add our name to the waiting list.  Well, it turned out that a table had just opened up and if we got there quickly, it would be ours.  I told the hostess that we were in the lot and would be there in 2 minutes.  So, we went in and they escorted us into the restaurant immediately and we even got a window table with a perfect view of the water of the bay!  It was lovely!

After checking out that view, we settled in to check out the menu.  They are known for their seafood and so Bill ordered a perch basket and I ordered a smoked whitefish wrap.  Both were delicious.  This is a picture of my wonderful wrap!

Here are some pics of parts of the menu!  Our menu was a little wrinkled but it still worked!!

Our entire experience at The Shoreline was wonderful!  Great service, delicious food, beautiful view and such friendly people!  Highly recommend this place at the tip of Door County!!

A Busy Summer 2019

Between new patterns and helpful (hope so) tutorials that I plan on posting this summer, I thought I would let you in on some of the activities that my husband and I have been checking out!

As you probably know, we live on a beautiful lake in Central Wisconsin, and we absolutely love it.  But, due to a work opportunity, my husband now works in an office in Door County, WI during half of the week.  So, we live in Door County half of the week, too.  Now you may, or may not, know that Door County is sometime called the Cape Cod of the Midwest.  And, true to that name, it is quite gorgeous!!  Here on the blog I hope to let you in on some beautiful scenery, activities and fantastic food in both Door and Sauk Counties!!  I look forward to posting links to many wonderful restaurants and photos of that delicious food, too!

First off, here is a beautiful photo of the view from my patio!  You have seen this scene during the winter, but now, on a gorgeous summer day, it's spectacular!  This is the working waterfront of Sturgeon Bay, WI.  And this is a picture of the Michigan Street Draw Bridge....also called the Steel Bridge.   The waterfront also includes resorts, shipbuilding companies and marinas!!`
